Hashtag in Facebook

Facebook announced that it recently incorporated #hashtags as a way of bringing conversations about public events, people, and other topics to the forefront. The world´s largest social network, Facebook considered the amount of buzz people tend to generate around popular television shows, sport games, and breaking events. “During primetime television alone, there are between 88 and 100 million Americans engaged on Facebook – roughly a Super Bowl-sized audience every single night,” Greg Lindley stated, when announcing the new feature in the official blog post. Till date, there has not been a more convenient or organized way to monitor events or discussions on Facebook on a grand scale. But now, the roll out of #hashtags should help people participate in public conversations they are interested in. #Hashtags will work on personal profile posts, fan page posts, group posts, event posts, and comments.

How to use Hashtags?

Hashtags turn topics and phrases into clickable links in your posts on your personal timeline or Page. This helps people find posts about topics they’re interested in. To make a hashtag, write # (the number sign) along with a topic or phrase (written as one word) and add it to your post. For example:

I walked up so many hills today! #Election

When you click a hashtag, you’ll see a feed of posts that include that hashtag. You'll also see some related hashtags at the top. You can search for a hashtag using the search bar at the top of any page.

Note that you'll only see posts that were shared with you. The hashtag feature isn't available to everyone right now.

How to Recognize a Fake Facebook Account

Facebook has become one of the most powerful social networking and communication site for all the people around the world. Today, more than 60% of the world's total population has a Facebook account. With the increase in the number of Facebook users and the popularity of the site, several fake Facebook accounts are being created daily to cheat, fraud, hack and loot the other users. It is difficult to find out whether the Facebook account is a real one or not.
Below is the list of some common and most appropriate ways to detect a fake Facebook account:

  1. Look for the photos in the profile. If there is only one photo of the individual in the whole profile, it makes quite clear that the account is fake.
  2. Look for the activities like status updates, wall posts, comments, etc. If the user has not updated a status for a quite long period of time and hasn't been involved in any wall posting or commenting of other statuses, the profile is likely to be fake.
  3. If the user has just been adding randomers and making new friends and that there are no pages liked or groups joined, it determines that the user is a fake one.
  4. If possible, check the friend's list. If found that the maximum number of friends is from the opposite gender, it can be assumed that the account is used for fun or some random dating.
  5. Check for the info. If there is no real information given regarding schools, educational institution or workplace and that the user is looking for dating and interested in both men and women, the profile may be a fake.
  6. Check the birthday. Birth dates like 1/1/XX…..or……31/12/XX are common between fake accounts as it is quite unique and easy to type in.
  7. Fake profiles of girls usually have a contact no. in their info. Lets face it,girls harldy will have their contact no. in public. So watch out if the user exposes info that is unlikely for general users to unveil in public.
  8. Look out for recent wall posts,if u see loads of people asking…’Thanks for the add...Do I Know You?’……and yet the posts remains unanswered…it is bound to be a fake one.
  9. Look for common tarits used in facebook, like.using applications such as farmville, pet society etc….and adding siblings. If these traits are not found among the user, the profile is highly inactive or fake. This point can’t single handedly prove the fakeness, however this will be a supporting clue along with other points.
  10. If you are quite certain about the profile’s fakeness, and want to be absolutely sure, try browsing google for some random profile pictues. Fake profile pictures are usually selected frm google and while browsing through it,you might as well come upon the picture the user chose for the fake account.
I hope this information provides a relevant information about the Facebook and the fake account on Facebook.
